A Message to the Reader

"EQAO does not issue any form of board or school ranking. School or board ranking serves no useful purpose and is ultimately harmful to the health of our education system. It is counter-productive to rank schools based on test results because ranking tell us nothing about why scores are high or low and nothing about what can be done to make them better. In fact, ranking leads people to draw sweeping conclusions or make simplistic comparisons that fail to consider all of the factors that affect achievement."

EQAO (2000)

Each year Ontario's Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO), an independent evaluation agency, gathers test results from Ontario's public and Catholic schools. Grade 3 and 6 students are tested in Reading, Writing and Math. Grade 9 students are tested in both Applied and Academic math streams as well as Literacy in 2007.

visit EQAO homeYorkRegion.com has compiled 2005, 2006 and 2007 EQAO testing results from York Region public and York Catholic schools.

In Grades 3 and 6, the number is a percentage of students who passed the test; in Grade 9 Math, the number is a percentage of all students who achieved at least a Level 3 standing.
